DDM 422 – Far-our & Far-fetched.
Not all neighbors get along, and managing such fraught relationship can be tricky, as overt aggression can certainly make a bad situation even worse. Google Earth has revealed one option for releasing tension—carve a massive, nasty message about them into a field behind their house.
That appears to have been the path taken by somebody in Sequim, Washington. He, she, or they formed the word “A-Hole” and included an arrow pointing to the allegedly problematic person’s nearby home.
Mashable reports that the message appears to date back as far as late 2011, though it was just noticed by many this year. The most recent Google Earth shot of the area is from July of 2016. Some have conducted investigations into the matter and believe the neighbors’ feud began not long after the building of a purple garage. The structure was criticized by many and, in some circles, referred to as “the purple people-eater.”
Multicity travel typically involves a number of hotel rooms and a great deal of luggage hauling. But one very bright University of Las Vegas architecture student is proposing a better way. He’s devised a plan for movable rooms that travel from city to city via a hyperloop transport system. His name is Brandan Siebrecht and he calls his concept the Hyperloop Hotel.
The plan calls for transforming cargo containers into well-appointed accommodations complete with office, sleeping and living areas, bathrooms, flat-screen TVs and, of course, Wi-Fi.
The 13 cities along its travel route include LA, New York, Chicago and Austin.
A flat room and transit fee of about $1200 is imagined at this time. But there’s a lot of time for that to change as the mode of transportation—the super fast, nationwide hyper-loop system—does not exist, yet.
Nonetheless, Siebrecht’s proposal earned him the top prize in the annual Radical Innovation competition.
