Step one, you need to get the books. Duh!
Sign up for a monthly membership at www.audibletrial.com/lme
A few things to note:
1. You will get a free audio book for the first month.
2. From the second month on, you will be charged a flat fee, $14.95, which means whether you’re getting a $100 book or a $20 book, you will be charged $14.95 every month.
3. You can cancel your membership AT ANY POINT!
4. By the way, most bestseller books are over $14.95, so you’re not losing out. If you’re a book lover, you’ll understand that Audible’s $14.95 flat rate is a great deal.
Step two, join my mailing list by writing to me at santaraisin @ gmail. com.
This will get you two things: our weekly newsletter and invitation links to our fun (and free!) hangouts
You will be invited to our weekly hangout to join our fun (and sometimes really intellectual ;)) discussions.
Step three, join our book discussion. Here’s how:
Check your inbox for the invitation link at 10 am Chicago time every Thursday.
You will receive a link in your inbox at exactly 10 am Chicago time TIME, not your local time.
We use a software called GoToMeeting to hold our hangouts. It’s a high-quality, paid software (Coach Shane’s paying for it monthly!) so don’t be afraid to install it onto your device. Yes, it works on mobile devices, too.
Go through these steps
When you click on the link, you’ll see something like this. Your computer/smartphone has a built-in mic and speakers, so choose “Built-in Microphone” and “Ok, I’m all set”!
Next step, choose “Use Computer Audio”!
Type in your name before joining us so that we know who you are!

Now I Know More – by Dan Lewis
Ok, so this book is basically a collection of fantastical, interesting and/or informational stories.
This week’s mission is: pick the funniest/the most interesting/ the most unbelievable story and prepare a summary of that story!
Also an additional question will be sent out before we meet. So watch this space! : )
Or, you can simply write to me at santaraisin @ gmail .com and subscribe to my newsletter for quick updates on Coach Shane’s Audiobook Club.

1. Tuesdays with Morrie – by Mitch Albom
We kicked off our book club with this easy, moving read.
2.The Rosie Project – by Graeme Simsion
The Rosie Project first got our attention when we came across Bill Gates’ recommended book list. It’s a love story between a genetic scientist and a free-spirited girl. Cute!
3.The Alchemist – by Paulo Coelho
This book touched all our book club members’ hearts with this quote: “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
4. Wonder – by R. J. Palacio
It’s a children’s book. The story takes several unexpected turns. Each one of our book club members could empathize with at least one of the characters.
5.Little Princes – One Man’s Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal
– by Conor Grennan
Our book club members covered topics related to human trafficking. It was very heavy subject, but we had a good discussion over how sometimes good intentions clash with harsh realities.
6.The Little Prince – by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
For our book club members, this was a “love it or hate it” book.
7. A Secret Gift: How One Man’s Kindness – and a Trove of Letters – Revealed the Hidden History of the Great Depression – by Ted Gup
Jean marie – he’s a PIRF and DDM member – recommended this book to Coach Shane. It gave us a window into America’s historical facts and hard times.
8. Off the Edge of the Map – by Michael Rank
Andrey – he’s a PIRF and DDM member – recommended this book to us. Our book club members took turns giving a short summary on each explorer. It was great speaking practice!
9. I Am Malala – by Malala Yousafzai and Patricia McCormick
This book let the diversity among Coach Shane’s students really shine. One of the heaviest subjects we’ve ever discussed came from this book.
10.The Bridges of Madison County – by Robert James Waller
Edit – she’s a PIRF and DDM member – recommended this book. Edit is an artist so her recommendation didn’t come as a surprise. Alex – he’s a DDM member – was not happy with this book at first. But as we went on, he completely fell in love with the story. “Each page brought tears to my eyes, Coach Shane”, he said. (Was he kidding?)
11.Tough Choices – by Carly Fiorina
We haven’t started on this one yet. But we’re all pumped and can’t wait for it! Our book club member Valerie has been a self-employed businesswoman all her life. We all look forward to hearing her thoughts on this book!
